July 2017. The French authorities launched a public tender to conduct “A diagnostic on the role and activity of women in the fisheries and aquaculture industries, including production, port activities, processing, trading and marketing”. This study was initiated under the combined influence of the European Commission which is reinforcing its gender mainstreaming policy in all sectors and also of a recent French public policy on professional gender equality. Two members of WSI (the president and the director) have been commissioned to conduct the study.
Results have been published in July 2017 and presented to the French industry in December 2017..
